I´ve been a bad boy – as soon as Anu came back to Helsinki I felt there are more important things to do than writing the blog. And now almost after a week I´ve to say good bye. It´s been a great time in Helsinki and I wanna thank everyone who contributed to this lasting experience.

So, these are the last words posted: Hope to be here soon again, if everything works out fine, we´ll be moving to this nice city in about 1,5 years… Let´s see!

Förmodligen kommer jag att skriva min gradu om Tysklands neonazisters Finlandbild. Började nu att undersöka den och är shockad. Jag var inte medveten om hur mycket skit finns på nätet. Man läser ju alltid mycket om sådana saker, men när man ser det själv är det ett helt annat sak… Ännu viktigare att någon skriva om det…

As I wrote on Saturday: no plans for the further day. Well – it didn´t last long. An emergency-plan was developed fast: Take it easy, buy some pizza and ice-cream and stay in. Not so spectacular – I agree, but it seemed the right thing…

The way how things developed made me ask myself once again: Is there a higher reason for me to not spend too much time alone?

Back home I realized that the XL-Grandiosa-pizza wouldn´t fit into the oven. So I had to cut it into two pieces – no drama. After a while the sweet smell of junk-food pet my nostrils, so I went to check the pizza. Couldn´t really see if it was ready yet, so I decided to get it out of the oven. Whilst doing that the baking paper caught fire. To save my desired piece I started to blow. Burning pieces of paper flew through my mini-kitchen. Decided it wasn´t the brightest idea. Water should help! It did help, but the pizza turned into pizza-pulp. Yammy.

I still had the second half. Now I was happy that the pizza turned out to be too big. Spent so much time thinking what a happy fellow I am, that the rest burned in the oven…

But the ice-cream, the ice-cream was good…

Jag ska se hur natten kommer at bli – inga konkreta planer. Ha det bra!

Tänään ensi viikolla tulee Anu takaisin Helsinkiin! Yippey!!! Tänään ensi kuukaudella mun täytyy lähteä Suomesta Saksaan – buhu. Vielä 16 päivää, sitten juhlan mun synymäpäivä. Yippey… Oi, Oi, aika menee liian nopeasti…

The Independence Day was a quite interesting experience. I joined the studentmarch to Senatintori and listened to the speeches. For me as German it was strange to see all the burning torches, people with their hats and the patriotic speeches. There, in the dark, it all seemed a bit spooky, like greets from the history-books. Most Germans I spoke with felt that way. It shouldn´t be misunderstood as a critic of something traditional Finnish, it´s just so different from the historical awareness I grew up with.

Later we were watching of course Tarja shaking a lot of hands – most of the dresses – hmm, well it´s always a matter of personal taste, but still…

Försöker redan i fem timmar att skriva en jobbansökan. Puh, det är svårt på tyska, men på svenska nästan omöjligt. Men det finns vänner som hjälper, så det finns hopp… Och vilket foto skulle jag skicka in?
