What’s this Blog About?

 

Hey everybody!

I´m Jerome, 25 year old original Berliner in Helsinki. You might already noticed that this blog is a bit confusing. It’s supposed to be. I got many questions, why did you come to Helsinki, what do you think about the city – about the Finns in general – aren’t we a strange nation? Well I think you’re a very lovable nation and I enjoy being here. But it’s hard to explain how I feel. Everyday I’ve to deal with four different languages – and I gotta say my mind is quit mixed up. So this blog is an approach to explain. It tries to let you see Helsinki trough my eyes. I know it’s difficult to read and sometimes maybe impossible to understand. How my girlfriend put it: Sorry – but isn´t it a bit to postmodern…

It might be. But in making this comment she showed me that this approach is working. It’s mirroring the situation in my brains. Aswell for me it’s hard to understand… Anyway, if you´re interested you can discover Helsinki through my eyes, meet the people I meet, meet my everyday-life heroes, you’ll get to know the obstacles in my way, the places I like here and so on… You might like it.

The next thing coming up is a section with my favourite places in Berlin. Berlin is a great city – full of energy and boiling creativity- and especially for young people important- Berlin is affordable. Prices are cheap and the rents compared to other metropolises in Europe are a joke. So this section might be interesting, because my tips are tips from inside. I don’t advertise I just recommend the places I like! Of cause all is a matter of taste, but I’ve been told that my taste is not sooo bad;-)
